This series is dedicated to the work of Johann Sebastian Bach, the most important composer and musician of the Baroque era. To underscore the importance and complexity of his entire body of work, I have selected some of his most important pieces to which I dedicate my work in this series. These works have been created in a form of representation that I have newly developed, my so-called “painted and padded wall objects”. A handmade stretcher frame with rounded edges is covered with a first canvas. I pull a few layers of polyester padding over this, over which the top canvas is finally stretched.
This external 3-D form of representation of the works allows the viewer to immerse themselves in new image levels and image worlds in connection with the complexity of my painted picture surfaces.
